Seasonal Lawn Care

Spring

After a period of dormancy, the lawn will come to life as soil temperatures rise. First Lawns spring application contains a blend of fast and slow release fertilisers to provide sustained colour and strengthen the structure of the plant ahead of summer stress.

Lawns will also receive an application of weed control as appropriate.

First Lawns early season scarifying will remove moss from the lawn using a machine that causes less stress to the turf than the more severe machines used in the autumn.

Early Summer

During May and June we apply a fertiliser/soil improver to the lawn to see it through the summer.

This feed will be combined with an application of weed control as needed, depending on prevailing conditions and the condition of the lawn.

If the weather is very dry the weed killer may be supplemented by or replaced with a wetting agent that will help the lawn to make good use of moisture if it rains.

Late Summer

The feed First Lawns uses from August to mid-October is a high potassium fertiliser that strengthens the plant structure and gives a good tonic to the grass after the summer months.

Weed killer will be applied as appropriate and we might also apply a wetting agent to help the lawn make the most efficient use of moisture as rain and dew return, particularly if the summer has been very dry.

Autumn & Winter

Autumn and Winter treatments include a moss control as well as fungicide control if appropriate.

Turf Hardener is also available and Worm, Leather Jacket, and Chaffer Grub controls if required .
